Any significance to the times?

In the 1980s I heard the person heading up YWAM's King's Kids raise an interesting point which he indicated he did not quite know what the implications are, but the matters are still pertinent.

God rasied up Moses as His man to lead the nation from slavery in Egypt into the land promised to Abraham. He also established the Old Covenant through Moses, but, at the time of his birth a government initiated infant genocide attempted to eliminate all the children. In God's providence Moses was spared and the objectives realised.

When God's new covenant was to be established a similar event happened. After Jesus was born Herod decreed another government sanctioned infant genocide. But God had other plans and Jesus was spared and lived fulfilling God's plan until His cruel death at Golgotha.

Both events were efforts to thwart God's plan that failed in their objectives but left many people impacted. But God succeeded as He always will and allowed His people in the Old Testament to be freed from their life of slavery to the freedom promised (although the interim phase was hard, but symbolic) and enabled the Lamb of God to be sacrificed for the sin of the world.

The abortion movement is attempting to accomplish similar things at this time. The point was that he was unsure as to what to do with this information, but it is worth considering. In this era millions of "inconvenient" babies are being executed in the name of convenience. Maybe there is no real significance, but it is worth spending a few moments contemplating it.
